Moving Out?!?!?!?

i woke up at about 1:30ish and still can't go back to sleep. it's 4:18 now.

maybe because i've decided to move out! ...(?!?!??!)

assuming my credit is approved (i'll find out today), i'll be making my first rent payment and picking up my apartment keys on june 12th (about two weeks) !!!!

excited? (YES!)
scared? (YES!)
nervous? (YES!)

i haven't lived on my own for almost a year. i haven't lived by myself EVER...i am, however, thinking about getting a puppy to keep me company. and i would name him/her scruffy.

as much as i love my family, i think it's my time to leave the nest. it was a tough choice to make, but aside from the scared and nervous feelings, i feel deep down that this is what i want. and i'm gonna f----- get it. YEAH!

but first, i need to try to fall back asleep...and not be freaked out. LOL.

The Journey Out West

I finally made it back to San Jose, California. It was a 6 day journey.

Tuesday May 5th, I set out from Ann Arbor, Mi with KT's Baja team to their competition in Portland, Oregon. We drove through a lot of states like Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and finally Oregon. Mostly, they were a blur since we primarily only stopped for gas and/or food except for the last night where we stayed in the most simplistic motel ever. There wasn't even shampoo and definately no hair dryer. I remember wind farms in Wyoming and happy looking cows in most of the states. There was also the occasional tumbleweed rolling across the highway (like in movies!).

Portland is beautifully green with fun hipsters (and regular people too) riding bikes everywhere. Even kids!

I flew to San Jose on Monday but I guess I didn't look too closely at the flight I had booked since I thought it would be a direct flight but we stopped in Reno. That was a surprise for me.

The Blog Whore

I seriously feel bad about being a blog whore, but it's too hard to resist. And I'm too proud.

Today I graduated from bartending school. It wasn't all glamorous like engineering graduation, but it felt just as good. I don't know, I feel so accomplished right now. Haha. I just celebrated my 9th Month Work-sary (see previous entry), got my first
field work assignment, saw Star Trek, bartending school graduation, and sometime in the next few days, I will get pimped out to OCSD. I'm too untouchable (but go ahead and try to touch me, LOL).

Check out my cool diploma:

Yay!

My 9th Month Work-Sary

May 4th was my 9th Month Work-sary. So after nine months of solitary confinement in my 3.5-walled fortress, I finally got my first ever field work yesterday. In beautiful SoCal weather too, mind you! Yay! The day was very nice (mid-70s), and even though I walked for about 5 hours plotting valves, utility boxes, etc on my incomplete topo map, I didn't mind it at all. I guess if you'd been cooped up indoors for that long, anything outdoors-y is a blessing.

I still can't believe it. I've never lasted at a job longer than this (my record was exactly nine months in Seal Beach). Some days I feel like life is just passing me by while I try (or struggle, lol) to get use to this life---my tiny eight-to-five life that does nothing but make my eyes go bad but at the same time sponsor all my materialistic needs. So far it has funded my overpriced camera, snowboarding, my alcoholism (which I'm now trying to tone down) and some other things that I now can't even remember buying.

But all seriousness aside, there are times when I still question myself, what am I doing here? But I guess, just because you feel like you're not contributing at all, it doesn't mean that you're completely worthless. I'd like to think that even a tiny thing could actually make a difference. On Monday, my boss emailed my group about the Norwalk SECAP being approved. It made me happy for maybe two minutes, just because I spent so much time working on it. I worked on that thing from data collection to drafting the report, and it just felt so good that it's now over with.

I've done 68 out of 144 stupid things

This is actually pretty cool. I was randomly clicking on people's facebook things and I got this off this guy who I went to elementary school with. I did the math and figured I've only done about 47% of everything on the list. So my life goal now is to go up to maybe 70-75% before I'm 25. I'd go for 100% (because you always have to "Aim high") but some things are just not doable (i.e. get arrested).

I suggest we all take the challenge. It might actually be a pretty cool. Then come back here and repost this every year to see our progress. I think it'll also make us get out there and not be so inhibited, instead of just watching life go by us.

Saturday

It's a great Saturday! Summer is just around the corner, I can feel it and I'm certainly acting like it. I went to sleep at 3:30 am last night. But, no worries, I was not studying, I was watching Arrested Development. Yum.

I got up to a sunny sunny day at noon and went on my first bike ride with a fellow CEE. We were out on our mountain bikes along the Huron River for a short chat and ride of ~5 miles out and back. It was a super chill and we stopped to look at birds, the dam, and anything at all. We also stopped at bridal boutique on the way back and it was kinda awkward since we were the only ones with mud splattered legs. I was very afraid of walking too close to the dresses. Also, those dresses look like they only fit women who are unrealistically tall. I mean, even while being headless, the manikins looked like they were at least 5' 10". With a head, they'd be over 6', no problem.

On the other hand, the cheese in my mac and cheese is not melting the way I want it to. It's more like chunky cheese and mac.

My Lazy Two Cents

I read this article at work yesterday, and i thought, wow...good thing america isn't doing it or i'd be, i dunno, probably packing my bags now. it's probably not a bad thing cuz you have to look out for your own people first (who were in your country first), but i think they really should just do it like Spain. people are getting sent home now, but at least they'll let them come back after a few years. it's not like a life sentence, you know.
