The Social Debut of My Yellow Tie

[it all happened something like this. i can't really directly quote them.]
context: lunch time in the kitchen. i was microwaving my turkey burger and waiting for my english muffin to pop out of the toaster.
MORGAN: o! you look nice today.
ME: thanks.
MORGAN: that's a nice tie.
ME: oh yeah? uh, i got it for two bucks at goodwill.
MORGAN: is that a store?
ME: no, it's not like a department store. it's a thrift store, like the salvation army. you donate stuff then they sell it for charity.
MORGAN: ooh....goodwill...i remember i donated some things to them. so, if i donate there and shop there, then i'm buying my donations?
ME: haha. yeah. but it's for charity.
MORGAN: where is the store?
ME: i went to the one in buena park. it's close to my house.
MORGAN: oohh...that's too far. where do you live?
ME: anaheim.
MORGAN: i see, i see. you want some of the leftovers from yesterday?
ME: yeah, sure, thanks. (then i had some more those super delicious meat things from yesterday)
context: me trying to go home because it was already a little past five. i was going to the kitchen to dump out my leftover water.
JUSTIN: hey.
ME: hey.
JUSTIN: nice tie!
ME: oh. thanks!
JUSTIN: did you go to a meeting or something?
ME: haha. no. i just...
JUSTIN: cool. i like your tie. it's very stylish.
ME: haha. thanks. i got it at goodwill for two bucks.
JUSTIN: oh really? i should go shop there for ties. instead of buying hundred-dollar ties, you know.
ME: well yeah, but it's goodwill so it's not, you know, new.
JUSTIN: doesn't matter. still looks nice. you can't really tell.
ME: uh yeah. oohh...are those mangoes?
JUSTIN: yeah.
ME: okay, have a good night.

i like that my fashion statement is being noticed at work. i guess i just like the attention and them complimenting me and my office outfits. i swear i can be an attention whore sometimes. it's just so different when it's coming from the guy coworkers because they always sound so honest and sincere. i mean, if a girl came up to me and said she liked my tie, i'd be like, uh yeah thanks, but in my head i'd be screaming, ahh..f---- it, lie to me bitch. it's so true. but there's an exemption to this. like, if they say my dress is cute, then i don't normally take it the wrong way. i mean, dresses are different. they're made to be nice and cute, so nobody ever gets it wrong.
i'm now inspired to dress nicer at work. you know, not have my hobo days like i've been doing the past few months. i'm not going to try too hard, i'll just make myself look more presentable and at the same time, introduce some (new and maybe innovative??!) fashion statements at work. it gets lame there sometimes. i seriously feel it's my responsibility to shake things up a little tiny bit so we don't all die of old age. like wearing ties.

My Shameless Plug
Visit my personal blog! HAHA.
i decided to start writing on it again, so...check me out! it's not as funny and as entertaining as this pink blog, but if you don't have anything better to do, it really won't hurt. besides, it's blue. and blue is pretty. :)

It's that time of the...
Agh, this is the week out of every month that I hate being a girl. I feel crampy and achey and generally tired despite the delicious candy coated advil pills I keep taking.
That's okay though, because I just got back from visiting UCI where I spent all weekend with my girls and had lunch with some old pals.
The last few days have been pretty hectic with my little sis graduating high school, and then the rush down to Irvine to attend UCI's commencement. I picked up Maisterbate on the way and we got to UCI right on time for the graduation. I took a nap after the student speaker.
I got to see X Marks the Spot when we all got together for dinner at Kaisen Kaiten. They serve sushi and eclairs, it was exciting and delicious and reasonably priced. Rock band afterwards was fun too (sorry X, I know you don't like it). The guys have a nice TV that says, "I'm not a college student, I have a real job!" I do not have a real TV because I do not have a real job.
Most exciting was seeing Maisterbate's new place. I'm jealous because its bigger than my place in Michigan and I share it with KT! Also, she has a dedicated dining room space while mine is kind of squished in with the living room. Well, seeing Maisterbate with her own place made me think about where we were in life. I guess I am behind the game since I'm still bumming off of my parent's money (I'm trying to get a job!). I don't know if I'll ever live by myself. Am I missing out on some self learning experience? Maybe.
I put up over a hundred books on Goodreads.com. It's interesting to see what I remember reading.

Old Age, Here We Come
it's june 13th. and it's also the first year anniversary of graduation. and i'm semi-celebrating it with Major Instigator and Maisterbate, except that they're sleeping two feet from this desk.
i don't know, but i suddenly felt alone. i'm with by my two best girl pals from college and i feel so alone. it doesn't even make sense.
for the longest time, i've been asking myself, is this what i had always wanted? am i where i thought i'd be right now? all i really want is to answer yes to at least one of these questions, but i can never lie to myself. i swear i've tried, but it just won't come out. No. no is the new yes. i really wish it wasn't, but i've lost control long ago. or maybe not. i don't really know.
my power animal is telling me to slide. but i keep saying no. slide. i won't slide. it's the only thing left to me, and i won't give in. i will not slide. i'm scared of the consequences if i do. it'll probably make me happy though. the bad news is, how do i know that for sure? so no. no is the new yes.
but most of all, i'm scared of what the future holds. what if none of my plans happens. what if i end up the loser. what if i never win anything, not even my happiness or peace of mind.
i tell people i can't sleep, and they always ask me why (even that guy from Home Depot!). a friend told me maybe i was like Fight Club. another friend said maybe my body wasn't processing the stuff i ate. another friend told me i was worrying too much. this friend asked me what was bothering me. i said nothing. because once again, no is the new yes, and i'm starting to get used to it.
but overall, it's been a fun day. hung out with my bestest girl pals, and now they're sleeping. soundly. haha. will i ever sleep (sober) like a normal person again? sometimes i envy those who do. i think you know what the answer is.

canned food
Today I decided to clean out the canned food pantry of my home since I suspected that my grandma (who does most of the cooking) doesn't care much for expiration dates.
1/3 of the cans were way past their expiration date, some others have undecodable expiration dates. I've given all of those cans/bottles/dried foods to my sister! She's going to either eat them or recycle/compost them.
